Hello there my lovelies!

Today I'm back with the second in my book reviewing series and this week I'm tackling Shakespeare's Julius Caesar!

Here's my thoughts and opinions with more analysis and exclusive blog content underneath enjoy...

Main Themes...

~ Power of Public Speech
This is a major theme throughout the play with all of the main characters using public speech to either rally the public against Caesar or to avenge his death. This resonates today still through social media and the power of influencers in the written or spoken word posing the view that words are indeed more powerful than actions.

~Fate over Free Will
The prospect of fate controlling the characters here through the warning 'beware the ides of March' which foretells of Caesar's death showing that fate is the ultimate master.
However Caesar's ignorance of his wife and others warnings shows that his free will also plays a strong role in his ultimate demise allowing the audience to question themselves if they believe it was fate or free will that eventually caused Caesar's death.

~ Absent Women
Women are largely absent throughout the main bulk of the play reflecting the male dominated society of ancient Rome and in government which is also a topic relevant today with wage gaps between genders rising as well as very few women in CEO seats and places of power.

~ Fragility of Government
This is clearly shown through Caesar's own weaknesses for example his deafness, epilepsy and pride. However these weaknesses are also seen in Anthony as well as Brutus and Cassius who are the potential leaders of Rome presenting the view that no government will ever be perfect or free of corruption, as we can clearly see still through the Trump administration as well as the leadership in places across the globe such as North Korea.

I hope you guys enjoyed this review, let me know any of your thoughts in the comments of my video and don't forget to subscribe to never miss a musical moment from me again!
